On July 1st, One27Homes joined the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, US Veterans Corps, and Operation: Coming Home to officially welcome US Marine Corporal Jason Nichols and his family to their new home in the Ashcroft community in Johnston County.
It all started with an announcement on October 12, 2019, at Skyfest 2019 that One27Homes would be the builder of Operation Coming Home Hero Home #21. The first hero home built in Johnston County!
To their surprise, it was announced at Skyfest that Cpl. Jason Nichols and his family would be the recipient of the keys to their brand new home months later on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
History is Made!
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a small crowd gathered in person at the Hero Home, while a much larger crowd viewed the live stream of the event on Facebook Live. A first for the US Veterans Corps and Operation Coming Home. The live stream was a huge success!
Raleigh/Wake County Homebuilders Association Executive Vice President, Paul Kane emceed the event.
Board Chairman of Operation Coming Home and Pulte Homes Builder, Mikkel Thompson delivered the invocation.
Speakers included Johnston County Commissioner, Bruce Lawter, and North Carolina Lt. Governor Dan Forest. Both delivered welcome home messages to the family and the gathering.
A poignant message was also given by One27Homes Founder, Reid Smith thanking Corporal Nichols for his gift of service to the greatest country in the history of the world!
A beautiful rendition of our national anthem was sung by Jennifer Woods, Deputy Director of the US Veterans Corps, and a US Air Force Veteran.
Under a bright blue sky, paratroopers from the Golden Knights parachuted from a helicopter above the crowd to deliver the Hero Home #21 house keys to Corporal Nichols and his family.
